FREE WiFi in Lagos for Zenith Bank Customers
FREE WiFi in Lagos for Zenith Bank Customers
Its really the era of change in Nigeria! New things are happening especially in the technology market. In May, Airtel partnered with the Lagos state government to dish out FREE WiFi at the Lagos City Mall in Onikan. The only problem was that it lasts for just the first 15 minutes of browsing, so it kills the fun. Some other small, independent Cafes and restaurants have also started providing free WiFi hotspots in Lagos. You can check out the full list and location of such spots here.
Zenith Bank, one of Nigerias leading banks, took giant steps in the Free WiFi dream of Lagosians and have started rolling out free WiFi exclusively for their customers.

In a press release by their Facebook Page, Zenith Bank announced that you can now access FREE Unlimited WiFi at the premises of the Lagos State Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in Idi-Araba. All you have to do is connect to the free WiFi and log in with your Zenith Bank account number. This means that whenever you are at LUTH you can enjoy free unlimited WiFi service, as long as you have an account with Zenith Bank. This is a very nice initiative and I hope that other banks and corporate bodies will also join the party and spread this to other parts of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, I still dont understand why FREE WiFi will first be rolled out at an hospital. Wyd? Who wants to go to hospital? Nobody, except Doctors and Nurses. :-)

How To Verify any Bank Account Number in Nigeria
How To Verify any Bank Account Number in Nigeria
Let us imagine three scenarios:
1.You want to send money at the ATM, then you are unsure of the account number, you now have to call/WhatsApp/Ping the owner of the account to confirm but everybody at the ATM queue is screaming at you. You just stand here wondering why bad things happen to good people.
2. You are at the bank, you want to send money to someone, you are unsure of the account number, so you head up to the customer care section but there are about 20 people on the queue there too. *deep sigh*
3. You want to use the mobile banking app on your phone to transfer money, for some reason the app doesnt verify the account number for you, you decide its better to just postpone it and confirm later.
This has to stop. Theres a solution to all these problems. Its an app called Nigerian Bank Account Verifier.

HOW IT WORKS:
=> Download the App (Check download link at the end of the post)
=> Install the app and Open it
=> Select the bank name
=> Enter the 10 digit Account Number
=> Click Verify
=> It will show you the Account Owners full names.
WHY YOU SHOULD USE IT:
=> Prevent Identity theft
=> Prevent Scam, find out real owners of account numbers.
=> Save yourself the stress of facing above scenarios
=> Prevent sending money to someone elses account.

This is a very nice app, and i recommend it for everyone. Personally, its a life saver app. The only issue is that its only available for Android devices for now, hopefully the developer will add other platforms to the list soon.

PHAZ P2 The Headphone that is also a power bank
PHAZ P2 The Headphone that is also a power bank
An headphone that charges your phone at the same time, How cool is that? A company called Phaz just made a set of headphones which come with built in battery which is used to power up your phone (i.e a powerbank) and also power its built-in amplifier.

The headphones which were unveiled at CES 2015, has a battery with a capacity of about 1200mAh. This is decent enough to charge most devices up to about 60 - 70% battery level. One of the ears has a space for USB cable to plug in your phone and keep the battery to last longer whilst boosting the sound via its built in amplifier.
The headset comes in two-tones with different earpad colours: Orange, Green, Purple and of course Black. Charging while using the headset though may bring about uncomfortable use as tthe USB cable has to be long enough to serve its purpose.
The company said it has used carbon fibre to keep the weight of the headphone down. The headphone also has an active bass boost powered by the built in batteries. The Phaz P2 headphone uses 40mm drivers and offer dual 3.5mm sockets: one to plug into your source and another to let you share your tunes with someone else.
The headphones are priced at $249 (N38,000 - N45,000). The price may seem a bit steep though, but the headset provides good sound with increased productivity.
