With end-to-end encryption, WhatsApp asserts that only you and the people involved in your conversations can read your messages. No one, not even WhatsApp, can access them in route. Each message you send is secured with its own lock, with only you and your recipients having the key necessary to unlock. WhatsApp then claims to delete messages from its servers after theyve been delivered.
According to WhatsApp, “From now on when you and your contacts use the latest version of the app, every call you make, and every message, photo, video, file, and voice message you send, is end-to-end encrypted by default, including group chats.
The idea is simple: when you send a message, the only person who can read it is the person or group chat that you send that message to. No one can see inside that message. Not cybercriminals. Not hackers. Not oppressive regimes. Not even us. End-to-end encryption helps make communication via WhatsApp private – sort of like a face-to-face conversation.”
This feature comes as the result of a server-side change, so no new update is required. You dont even need a friend online to try things out. Messages sent to yourself are apparently also secured. So go ahead, talk to yourself, nobody will penalize you.
I don’t know if this update will be available for Blackberry 10, Windows phone 7 and Symbian users since WhatApp had announced that they’ll remove supports for these devices…Android OS is the way forward! What do you think about this update?

Finally, we can say goodbye to Bluestacks and other Android emulators which enable us to access Whatsapp on our PC/Laptop. This is good news for users of the popular cross-platform instant messaging app. Already, recent studies have shown that more Whatsapp messages are sent per day than conventional SMS.
The whatsapp for PC is an extension of the one you are running on your mobile phone and is only available by a Google Chrome Plugin. This means that all your messages are still live on your phone.
PROCEDURES
To use Whatsapp on your PC,
- Visit web.whatsapp.com in your Google Chrome browser
- A QR code will be shown that can be scanned by the mobile version of whatsapp
- Now your phone has been paired and your chats will be mirrored to your PC.
The QR codes will look like the above picture with instruction for each compatible device. From the above, you can see iOS users have been left out. This is due to "Apple platform limitations" as reported by Whatsapp.
Maybe soon, voice call compatibility will be added by the Facebook owned company.

In 2014, Facebook purchased WhatsApp for about $19billion. Co-founder Jan Koum insisted WhatsApp would remain the same by respecting user privacy and not collecting user data. Things appear to have changed. WhatsApp updated its Privacy Policy for the first time since 2012, and the new policy states that there will be data sharing with Facebook. This data does not include your messages or photos. So why is WhatsApp asking to connect with my Facebook?
Whatsapp plans on helping Facebook improve the Ad experience on facebook and its products to make accurate count of unique users and fight spam and abuse. The updated policy also states: "..we will share some of your account information with Facebook and the Facebook family of companies, like the phone number you verified when you registered with WhatsApp, as well as the last time you used our service...". This means that shared information will include name of device, online status, usage and log information.
Should You be Worried?
Since the roll out of the new terms, a lot of misleading WhatsApp broadcast messages have been going round skewing the truth about the New policy. If your phone number is not used to register on Facebook or associated with any Facebook account, you have nothing to worry about. As an existing WhatsApp user with a Facebook Account, you are free to opt-out of sharing your information to Facebook by going to Settings >> Account >> Share My Account info and untick the box.
What are the benefits?
Facebook plans to bring even more features you WhatsApp. We already enjoy a wide array of features of Facebook already. With WhatsApp linked with Facebook, you can be able to message people directly from the phone numbers on their profile.Also, you get better friend suggestions and more relevant adverts will be served to you. You will also be better protected from spam and abuse
What are the dangers?
With your WhatsApp and Facebook merged you are now connected through a single channel and if your information is ever compromised, there is a lot more at stake. Although, with end-to-end encryption, your messages are safe and nobody can access them. The world is turning into a global village and the introduction of new terms like this are inevitable. Either you accept or not its worth noting some bits of your information are already accessible by default on signing up.Except you have skeletons in your cupboard, you really have nothing to be worried about.
